Opinions on 1997 198

Was considering looking at 97 198 bowrider with 4.3 and opinions on this boat not to familiar with mariah s what's the top speed and cruiseing speed of this boat. Enough power for water sports wakeboard and ski mostly ?

Welcome aboard the MOC. The 198 with the 4.3 should do fine for what you indicate. It will cruise nicely in the low to mid 30's and should top out around 44-48mph depending on how it is propped.

19'6" oal, 96" beam, 19" deadrise, draft 34", weighs approx 1166kgs, 191 litres fuel capacity. Probably a 19" 3 blade aluminum.

Thks a lot ! Any specs on gallons / hour I know no boat is fuel efficient but from what I have been reading these boats seem to be well built and that usually means heavier more fuel.

No idea, never measured it. I dont find my 180 with the 4.3 any harder on fuel that my previous 18' / 4.3. They are well built but there isn't very much weight difference with like quality competitors boats.

My MX-19 with the 4.3LX seemed to get a little over 3mpg.

Thks guys decided to go look at it Saturday if I like marinia said I can leave deposit till spring for final inspection and water test. Only thing that concerns we with this boat is the draft. My lake is shallow but only has maybe two rocks in it, but next lake on the chain is big and can get rough so I wanted a bigger boat for it. Cuz taking my hydrostream across it is no fun lol
