93 Mariah mx22 5.7 alpha specs

hello all thank you for the welcome to the forum. This is my first boat and I I have had it for a year now. I really enjoy my Mariah but I would like to know more about it. I can't find any specs on it. Its a 93 mx22 with a 5.7 alpha. It now has a SEI lower unit with a 21p prop. What information I know may be all but is it called a talari I don't know. I also was thinking about performance upgrades this winter but don't know the best place to start. Upgrades such as trim tabs and minor motor work maybe exhaust and carb work. We use the boat for tubing and some adult trips to the lake(when we can find sitters for the kids) to cruise or just relax any info or opinions would great. Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard! Regarding your boat specs here is what we know: Your MX22 is in fact an "MX22" (assuming that it does not have a cuddy cabin where it would be called an MX22C), oal is 21' 6", beam is 96", weight is approx 3150 lbs dry & fuel capacity is 43 US gallons. Max performance is 46-50mph per the brochure. You might find that 21" prop to be too tall for tubing and you may have to drop to a 20" 4 blade or a 19" 3 blade but i would suggest you get the boat in the water first & see how it performs. Smart Tabs will definitely help your planing ability if needed.

mx22 it is. Haven't seen anyone mention one so I didn't know. Thanks for the info. The 21p prop I have is actually cupped and from what I read that is actually like going to a 23. So I think I am gonna switch to a 19p cupped. My local shop stocks them I believe the brand is turnpoint is anyone familiar with turnpoint props. Or would you recommend just going with a regular 19p I was told for water sports going up a prop size helps plane quicker. I guess I could just install the smart tabs. Is there a certain style recommended for marinas. Again thanks in advance for the info

also I did have a whale tail attached to the lower but when I got the new lower the shop didn't put it back on. Should I have them put it back on or should I just buy smart tabs?

Dont ruin the good looks of a Mariah with one of those dammed 'whale tails'. :shakehead:

it used to have one. It was bolted to the lower unit. I guess you are saying to go with the smart tabs then haha. Do you think the prop will fix my planing issue

You could go with a cupped 19" prop or install the Smart Tabs but you may end up with both in the long run. Try the prop first particularly if the shop will let you borrow one to try it out.

That whale tail sucks. It will make the boat very wishy- washy at speed. Mikey hit it!!
Go with the smart tabs. You'll freak out with the handling they will give your boat. It'll come outta the water like it's got a scalded butt!!
Mikey is right with the 19-20p prop , but I'd try the tabs first(cheaper).
Another welcome to MOC!! The more the merrier!!

thanks I will probably do the prop now and maybe the smart tabs this off season. I won't put the whale tail back on either. As for the smart tabs I saw your post about the tabs and which weight to go with and for the tabs for my boat they offer a 70lb and 90lb would you say I should go with the lower of the two. Since mine is at the lower end of the chart. Size for the kits is a 70 or 90lb based on 21 to 25ft

Probably the 70lb arms.

Re: 93 Mariah mx22 5.7 alpha specs

smart tabs are installed with 70lb actuators. Gonna test it out in just a few hours. I put them on the middle setting. I have a 19p prop so have to see how she does. The only thing is I am trying to make it the rest of the season before rebuilding the carb but I guess we will see. She has been a little sluggish the last few times out. When I restart it after making a stop I have to hold the throttle wide open so I am sure the carb is seeping and needs rebuilt.
