cost for lower unit replacement
So I had my new-to-me 1992 2000Z on the water for a total of 20 minutes when I hit an underwater obstruction in the lake, which is rocky. The prop was wrecked and the marina says the lower unit case is cracked and the internals are gone, shaft bent, etc. I'm waiting for them to deliver the numbers to my insurance guy. My deductible is $500. Im wondering how much a lower unit and aluminum prop replacement will come to? I've been hearing some high numbers from people that scare me. I paid $3500 for the boat, which is a little below book value. My insurance company will pay me directly, I'm wondering how much money to put into the boat and what's the usual rate for lower unit replacement for an Alpha 1 gen 2. This is my first boat, so any experience, guidance or advice would be helpful. Thanks to anyone who can share some boating knowledge.
