Engine Compartment walls
Hi, I bought a 1992 2000Z with a merc 5.7 a few weeks ago. I've been cleaning it up and doing some mechanical and cosmetic work. It doesnt have the interior walls in the engine compartment, so theres an open space on either side of the rear bench seatback that is open to the engine. I'd like to put in some walls to quiet it down a bit and to reclaim some storage space. Does anyone have any pictures of the walls and how they originally attached? Thanks!

Re: Engine Compartment walls
I dont' have the same boat as you, so can't help with pics, but I suggest you use stainless steel L-brackets and stainless screws from a hadware store... You'd be suprised what ACE keeps on hand. Make the sidewalls to suit your needs ... could even encorperate notches to hold skis or a wakeboard if you like. Mine has notches facing the rear seat (which tilts forward) and a knee board or wakeboard fits there perfectly. I looked at a Powerquest that had notches in the top of the sideboards and he stored skis across above the engine. Anything that's screwed into the floor should have marine silicone sealer squirted in the holes before the screws are installed the final time.
