Re: New speakers.
Upgraded mine to Sonys, they always sound better to me.
Looking to install some 6x9s in the rear seat, but will be SOB as Sony does not make them. |
Re: New speakers.
Thanks for the info. Just dont want to chisel away at the fiberglass where the originals are.

Re: New speakers.
I put some Infinity 612M (6 1/2") in the front and I did have to expand the holes a little. I bought a jigsaw, and a blade with the most teeth I could find. Be very careful, as I learned it can certainly jump on you. I ordered some Polk DB521 (5 1/4") for the back that have not arrived yet. Hopefully they will fit out of the box. I am pleased with the Infinity speakers. Do a search on Google shopping - the same speakers will vary greatly in prices, you can find a good deal. And while you might pay a little more at crutchfield at times, in my experience their customer service has been stellar.

Re: New speakers.
When I got mine it had Dual speakers in it. I got rid of those and went with Polk DB521's upfront and and DB691's in the back and couldn't be happier.

Re: New speakers.
I replaced the OEM speakers with the 5.25 Polk MM series and it rocks. I was thinking about going with the 6.5 but I did not want to modify the opening. If you drive the 5.25" Polk's right you don't lose much performance. All 4 of mine are driven by one 4 channel Soundstream Stealth series 500W amp. They fit nicely in the cubby holes on each side of the engine compartment under the hatch. I also lit all 4 speakers up with LEDs for night time mood lighting.
