Z275 Shabah

Good afternoon......

I have a Z275 Shabah, and am looking for a new GPS to fit in where the old one was, does anyone know the make or model that would be a good fit?

Secondly I am also looking to replace the current stereo and speakers.....I want a reciever with Remote access, so I can run it from the helm, and also want it of course to be MP3 compatitable.......any suggestions?

Lastly looking for a good aftermarket speaker system for the rounds that are in there now, and wondered if anyone has ever mounted a sub on that boat? What kind and where?

Thanks/Cheers
Tom

I'm assuming you mean the Z275ST mid-cabin model? The OEM GPS unit was the Lowrance LMS-160 if I remember correctly. To use the Lowrance GPS antenna that came with that model, you'll have to buy a Lowrance unit, and I'd suggest contacting them for a suitable replacement that'll work with the existing antenna connector.

Otherwise, you can buy any GPS that fits within the molded cut-out, and buy an external antenna. There are small models which can be concealed almost anywhere. The one I have is about the size of a Satellite Radio antenna, about 2"x2". They are capable of receiving signal when mounted beneath fiberglass, although mounting in clear sight of the sky is preferred for optimal reception.

Almost everyone on here has replaced their stereos with MP3 compatible models, and many, including myself have installed subs. One of the popular round speaker replacements are the Polk dB series, they're affordable, sound great, and look good too! Search around the forum and you'll find all sorts of info!

Does your MP3 reciever have remote? Where did you mount your sub? Under the seats in the back?

Yes, center Cabin.....Thanks Alot, Tom

I put a new Lowrance 332c unit in mine and it fits the cut out perfectly. But the new units will not use the old external antenna. I put the new antenna in a cup holder space.

To take out the old unit you will need to remove the cup holders in each side of the dash to reach the knobs on each side of the unit. I have also replaced both radios. I went with Sony units and so the wiring harness was the same. I have not put in a sub but think the areas under the sink, drivers feet, or passenger kick panel would be good options. I did add an amp and the speakers had already been upgraded.

Most of your head units are MP3/WMA compatible these days. Personally, I prefer Pioneer head units, I have had great luck out of them.... They seem to outlast my vehicles, but this is only a preference.... I'm sure you'll hear other people say the same about other models.

On a side note, Pioneer Premier series head units are a bit cheaper and carry a longer warranty. The only difference is they are made in China instead of the good ole USA.
