Trailer Jacking Question

I'm putting our 180 Shabah into storage until the summer, and wanted to put the trailer on jack stands to take weight off the wheels.

I have the original Chariot trailer, and was wondering where the proper jack points are?

I'm don't want to guess, and ruin the trailer by trying to jack it at the wrong points.

I'd appreciate any pointers.

Re: Trailer Jacking Question

That would be hard to answer, I don't think anyone wants to be held responsible if there would be a problem. At this point you know that the weight is being supported by the tongue jack and axle.

I've got mine set up with blocks just behind the wheels and one block with a cross brace just behind the tongue. I've done that for 5 winters now w/out any problems.

If you want to take the weight off the tires, I think I would place a stand under the axle where it mount to the trailer frame.

i agree with jmorgan. been boat for 35+years, always just properly inflate tires, repack bearings to remove any water that may have goten in. and park it a dry garage. what you asking sounds good but not nessaery. your tires will be fine.

Re: Trailer Jacking Question

All I did with my old trailer was to take some of the wieght off the springs and placed stands at the rear shackles never had a problem. I got 8 years out of a set of bias trailer tires and they were still ok I just changed them out as I started hauling through the mountains.
