Help with corroded fuel tank 1992 MX 19
I own a 1992 Mariah MX 19. I have to clean out my fuel filter upon each use due to sediment. I am assuming my fuel tank is metal and has corroded over the years. I was wondering if a good flush out of the fuel tank would cure it and by using fuel additive keep it from re-occuring or should I just replace it. Don't know if a non-metal fuel tank is available for my model of Mariah. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Help with corroded fuel tank 1992 MX 19
I know early models used aluminum fuel tanks. Later models not sure. Regardless, the tank itself shouldn't cause any gunk problems in your fuel system. Most likely you or a previous owner got some bad gas. How long have u had the boat and how long has this been a problem? One thought would be to buy a small fuel transfer pump and some fuel line. You could disconnect your fuel line, hook up the pump and pump you tank into some gas cans. Refuel with some clean gas and some fuel treatment then repeat the process till you get clean fuel. Some other members may have better ideas. Good Luck
