Transducer mounting question

I have a transom mount transducer that came with my Lowrance LST 3800 depth gauge. I thought about installing it today on my 2001 Diable 180, but i'm not sure how to run the cable through the hull. Does anyone have a transom mount transducer? if so.. how is your wiring ran through the hull? Does anyone make a fitting that can be used to run wiring through? I could probably buy a thru hull transducer, but... are they as effective reading water temp and depth?

Suggestions, pictures, or opinions welcome. I've already drilled a zillion holes (okay - 12) installing the smart tabs, and have plenty of 3M Marine Tex adhesive/sealant.. so drilling a few more holes doesn't scare me (as long as I can make it look nice in the end.)

Also... where do you have your gauges mounted?

Thanks again!

Nick

p.s. I would like to install this over the weekend, but will wait until someone tells me how, or shows me a picture of their setup.
