I'm a newbie and I'm having a problem with my temperature gauge on my new 1996 Mariah Shabah Z200 5.7L Alpha 1 that I'm trying to sort out. It shows to warm up quick on the gauge and likes to hang around 200-225 but sometimes drops back to 165-175 where it needs to be then right back up again. No alarm has sounded and was glad of that figuring it was wrong but went ahead and replaced the impeller which was fine and the thermostat, no change. Then today I used an IR temp gun at the thermostat/exhaust and as I figured it was showing around 165 degrees. Is it more likely the temp sending unit or gauge in these cases? Also, the temp gauge will peg if I turn on the dash lights/running lights. Thanks for any help in advance and I hope I posted in the right place! Please let me know if I didn't.
