'94 Davanti 225 top speed?

New to the forum, new to this boat. Yet to have it out.
I'm wondering what I should expect for speed with ideal conditions?
5.7 merc.
Thanks.

Somewhere in the high 40's & maybe just touching 50 in ideal conditions and the boat in a solid state of tune.

I have a '95 Davanti Z225 and I've topped it out at 52 mph.

What type of prop are you running?
Approx weight of boat?

I would say ranging 44 to 47.

Remember that the speedo will tend to read 5 to 8 mph faster than true speed. You really need a hand held GPS

Thanks

That's a new one on me. My speedo, according to my GPS is only high by 1 mph at 45mph and 1.5 at 49 (my top speed). The Stingray i had previously was 2mph high at 50mph.

The brochure says 45-50 with the 5.7L so anything in the high 40's should be good depending on the extra's carried in the boat, the prop & engine tune etc.

My Shabah withe the stock 350 mag carb 250hp always read 59-60 on the Dream-O--Meter :confused:and was then disappointed to see 53 on the Gps.

I do know that 1to2 mph differences can be between radar and gps.

This is just my experience and the feed back of other performance boaters.

Thanks

Yes... Very common knowledge that speedo's on boats are wrong. That's my first question whenever I hear someone yell out their boat will do (insert insane MPH for the particular boat) If it was GPS or Speedo. Also the printed speeds are pretty much an estimation on the high end and ideal conditions. My car doesn't get the sticker MPG's either.

I'm not arguing that they can be optimistic because they usually are, just that they dont 'tend to be 5-8mph' optimistic. I dont think i've seen a speedo yet that is spot on.

Re: '94 Davanti 225 top speed?

I have a 94 Davanti 225, and with the stock 454/Bravo 1 set up I never saw over 54 GPS. I repowered with a 454 Magnum MPI 385PSHP and I havent GPSed the boat yet but the speed O was only reading about 60. I don't know if the haul desing limits the Davanti's speed because of the small hook in the back or if I have water trapped somewhere. Not sure but the Magnum is completely rebuilt and runs great. I def. figured the boat would be in the mid to high 60s with a 415 crank shaft HP engine in a 22' boat but I guess Mariahs may not be built for it.
