Problem w/ power engine cover
I have a 1994 210 Talari w/ a power engine hatch cover that has been disconnected by the previous owner b/c one ram went up faster than the other creating a "bind". Everything seems to operate correctly other that this. Any suggestions? I thought about creating some sort of bracket in the center and only using one ram.

Put a new seal in the ram. If one is going up faster than the other it has a bad seal .

Welcome to the board Joe!
Hmm, I've never seen one with 2 rams. Mine looks to have been equipped with only one. The previous owner removed it and used gas shocks instead. But mikeyt's right, one of the seals is going bad. That's what causes that. If you decide to go down to just one ram, be sure to keep us all updated on how you remedied the situation, and how that works just in case someone else runs into a similar problem! |

ROFL ! Nice one mikeyt :wink_thumbup:
I have 2 rams on my engine hatch .... ummm they are attached to my body. But I hope they dont break a seal ... :D |
Hi joe2106,
I thought the Rams were electric and not hydraulic. Which ones do you have? If they are hydraulic, Mark's right (Mikety too) and you probibly should rebuild both while your at it. If they're electric, you may need to relube the screw rod and piston or the motor might be worn out and need replacing. Also check their connections for corrosion. Good luck, WetWilly P.S. 180diablo, you're killin me!! :rolling_laugh: |
Hehe ... you never know what odd ball stuff I will type in here. ;)
Back to the boat tho,... I guess my model or year of boat didnt come with that feature. Then again, its not really needed because its not a very large cover to start with. But I guess other then replacing a seal, the only other option would have been to replace both of them and start from scratch. |
