96 shabah steering cable stuck
 

need info on steering cable on 96 shabah z222, 7.4 merc. with power steering. the cable is stuck in the power assist behind the engine. I finally got the nut loose, but I cannot get the cable out. I can't get my head deep enough behind the engine to see what I'm dealing with. I assume it is a square ended cable that slides inside the power assist pump and is just froze. if not, do I need to do anything special like turn the wheel all the way one direction or will turning wheel with the nut loose work the cable end out of the sleeve? Other than spray wd-40 and try to pull it straight out, I have not moved the steering from the straight position it was in when I started. any help or a link to a diagram would be appreciated.
