Problem with Bilge Pump

Replaced my bilge pump with a Rule automatic. When I connect the wires, brown to brown, brown/white to brown/white and black to black, the pump runs continually. Can't figure it out, could it be a bad rocker switch?

I posted this in the wrong place - so I am posting it again as a new thread - (sorry for the duplication!) :shakehead:

Re: Problem with Bilge Pump

Are you sure the pump activator isn't stuck on or possibly defective? If your bilge is dry, and the switch on the dash is off, it shouldn't run unless you flip it on. If the wiring color coding matches up, and it still runs consistently, I'd say next step is to experiment around a little bit with the float switch, and the dash switch. There is a possibility the dash switch could be bad, but highly unlikely. I'm really thinking it could be your float switch.

I just replaced mine earlier this year with an OEM Johnson (Mayfair) Pump, next time I'm up at my boat I'll doublecheck the wiring and let you know how mine's wired.
