kill switch wiring

I recently replaced the stereo system on my 96 Shabah. The previous owner had trouble with the kill switch wiring when his son tried to install a stereo. My stereo works goods but I am wondering if I did something to the kill switch since my boat wont start now? Is there a way to diagnose a problem with kill switch wiring? The boat started fine when I winterized last winter.

I just cleaned up a right wiring mess on my 1996 shabah. I traced out my cabling and it looks like this (attached).

Notice the Kill switch wiring routes through the same plug as the radio power (MISC in the diagram), and as the kill switch wires are purple, AND the radio igninition power is purple, it would be easy to hit the wrong cable and cause an issue.

Here's how the kill switch appears to work on mine...

The ignition sends 2 purple power feeds, one diectly to the MISC plug for the radio, and one to a cap. The second feed interests us as the cap then splits the feed, feeding the console gauges and feeding another pin on the misc plug to feed to the kill switch. The kill switch return routes back though the MISC plug and into the main harness, presumably back to the engine.

Take a look at the diagram and it will make more sense.

My kill switch connects to the MISC plug wires with 2 bullet connectors, so its easy to tell it apart from the purple IGN-Radio wire that I now have connected with an insulated quick-disconnect.
The last guy that wokred on my radio used the "twist&tape" method to hook up the power.... nice!

Also, the diagram is a work ion progress, I'd appreciate any feedback, and "disclaimer", use at your own risk!
