Bilge blower problem
Had the ol girl out today and the blower kept popping the fuse. It then made the engine die I guess because of not venting the fumes. Anybody have any suggestions where to start?

Re: Bilge blower problem
check the blower see if its moving air. locked up motor will pop fuses. Good visual inspection of the wiring checking for shorts, loss wires, breaks in the insulation.
got a voltmeter? ohm positive side of wire to ground - if short you have a + wire shorted to ground somewhere. (disconnect battery first) |
Re: Bilge blower problem
It does run but you can hear the rpms of the motor slowing down then it pops. Last fall it had a piece of tubing stuck in the blade but it runs now. I'll do some checking.

Re: Bilge blower problem
hi, the 1 st thing i would check is the blower itself, the reason the engine is slowing down when you turn it on is most likly because its drawing too many amps. try to disconect the blower at the motor than turn on the switch, if that takes the load off the altenator then the engine won`t slow down, and the fuse won`t pop. if the engine still slows down , and the fuse blows than you`ll have to check for a wiring problem. Good luck, Jackie
