How to remove the rear seat in a z272 2000
 

If anyone has removed there rear seat in a shabah z 272 (2000) i would like to known how it was done and if was very hard?? I have to get at the front of the motor. Thank-you gary g..any help would be great:(

Is it the sectional wrap around or fiberglass bench seat?

Gary, I have the same boat in a 1996. I gutted it. Removing the rear sectional was pretty easy. The rear bench in front of the motor is a no brainer. It's on hinges ( at least mine is ). Then each side return consist of a base, 2 seat cushions ( one should be hinged and the corner fixed with hardware accessed from the underside. The upper curved section is bolted through the side wall of the boat. You have to reach behind it to access the bolts. Be careful with the wood on the curved section, it consists of many thin laminates. I'm in the process of fabricating the curved wood on mine because it was shot. Hope this helps.

When I removed all the interior of my Z302 it went like this.

The center seat bench is held down with (4) 1/4-20 bolts that are thru bolted into a plywood base that runs underneath the entire width of the rear seat. The two side sectionals are bolted into that same base with 4 bolts each as well. Be careful where you place your hands and feet once you start to remove those bolts because I can attest to getting off balance once or twice during this process.

Next you will have to remove the long screws that attach the rear curved section to the top of the three seat bases. Mine had quite a few in each section but once you remove them all you will feel it loosen up but will still be held in place by a few screws on the side. Now comes the fun part because you will have to contort your body to first locate them and then second to remove them. In my pictures below of the two side sections you can see how they attach to the boat's liner and the hole towards the lower part of the sides where those screws are that you will need to remove. Once the screws are removed I had to bend the ends in a little bit to get it to come out of the boat but after that is removed you can get to the 2-3 1/4-20 bolts that hold the sides to the inside liner.

Gary, having easy access to the motor is one of the main reasons why I redesigned my interior. When completed I will easily be able to sit in front of the motor during service and general maintenance.
