Last ride of the year
1 Attachment(s)
It was 88 degrees here in East Central IL yesterday, so my wife, mom and 10 month old son had to take the Mariah out one last time for the year.
We usually go to Clinton Lake and have been to Lake Shelbyville once, which is alot bigger. Anybody else get out this weekend that live around me? |
Re: Last ride of the year
It was nearly 80 here last Wednesday. I too took advantage of the last summer days and went out for a 70 mile round trip on the river with my buds.

Re: Last ride of the year
We took ours last week on Lake Winnipesaukee. Not a great leaf peeping year but still a beautiful 60 degree sunny day.
Got the back deck off to make some hinge repairs. 2 of the 3 hinges have pulled loosed. I guess I'll have to epoxy them in and put another hydraulic assist arm in as I only have the 1 electronic lift. Too much pressure. Also took a couple of cushions off to have them repaired so I don't have to replace. We're all tucked away in the barn for winter! :( C'mon spring! |
Re: Last ride of the year
Yesterday, we were out for what was probably our last ride of the season as well. It was about 66 degees (warmer than the day before). I plan on pulling my Mariah out on Wednesday.
We did see another Mariah. It was a blue and white model that had a "Z" colour scheme. They were fishing, so I didn't check it out. It was gone on our return. That was the fourth Mariah that we have seen in our area of late. Shabah 198SE |

We usually go out for the last time around the end of October. We make a day of it if the weather cooperates. The Mariah will hold 9 people, so we take all the neighbors out with us to go leaf peeping. Then prepare it for storage, fill the tank with gas, run some stabil through the engine, change the oil and filter, run in biodegradeable antifreeze, then fog the motor, and remove the battery, check/replace the out drive oil and wait patiently until April.

Re: Last ride of the year
tomorrow is supposed to be in the high 70's. boat is all fueled up, gonna give it a lil detail job in the morning and hitting the water by 1pm. wife will swoop up the kids right after school and well get in 2-3 hours of water time before soccer practice at 7pm.
I keep thinking "Ill have to winterize it this weekend" but I keep putting it off and IM glad. |
Re: Last ride of the year
We ran the gas out of ours at Mark Twain Lake last weekend,
However, that's not saying we may not add a little more and go for a color run if the weather is right. |
Re: Last ride of the year
Glad to hear some of you are in my neck of the woods! My last two rides were very peaceful, but a little chilly. However, one of them went until 11pm - well after dark. I just winterized it and will groan & moan until spring. Maybe next year I'll run into some of you. Have a good winter!
