Anyone convert the Thunderbolt ignition to an EST
 

The PO has converted the ignition in this boat to a Delco EST setup (not 100% sure its marine). There are boats running this setup as OEM ignition on Volvo Penta and OMC 4,6 and 8 cylinder. The 3.0 Merc came with a EST setup. Does anyone have experience with this setup and if so how do you like it. After doing alot of research I got mine to shift correctly but also found out the module is junk. Timing when shunted is 1 deg, with shunt removed it goes to 9deg at 600 rpm using dash tach, at 1000 it rises to about 18 but once it gets to 2k rpm all the advance goes away and it drops back to 1 deg. I am debating changing the dist and the module to be sure I have a marine setup but it would be as easy to just convert back to the Thunderbolt IV. Would like to hear what people who use this system think of it.
