Anchor Storage on Bow and Water :)

Hi. I have a 97 Shabah z255 and have noticed that when I take large waves and water goes over the bow I get a lot of water leakage into both the front anchor locker and through the main hatch into the cabin. Are these supposed to be water tight? The anchor hatch has my dock lights and wiring and of course the anchor. It was seriously 6-10" deep in the anchor hatch as it drained slowly.. I guess into the bilge? I was in 4-5' waves a few weeks ago and just noticed this.

I can't image waves getting that high to get into the anchor storage. I would think that they didn't plan on water getting in there being that the docking lights are wired there.

My z252 is not waterproof either. I've taken waves over the bow a few times and things get pretty wet. I haven't had any electrical issues either though, but I'm a bow rider so maybe it's a different setup.

There is a drain in the bottom of my anchor locker that drains out the starboard side. The only problem is, the rope from the anchor line usually covers the drain, limiting it's ability to properly drain. I have taken some waves over the bow, and even had one of my docking lights bulbs fall out due to what I can only assume as water pressure during heavy seas. This happened in 6-9ft swells on Lake Erie. When I got back, I found water had entered the cabin through where the docking light bulb had come off. Not a whole lot, maybe 2-3 gallons, but it was enough to make sleeping a little uncomfortable that night, since it got all my clothes, sleeping bags and pillows wet. :)

Since then, the bulbs have been tightened onto their mounts and sealed so this doesn't happen again!
