Broken Ignitition Switch

Hi,

So unfortunately my ignition key broke (the tumbler turned all the way around and cracked the ignition in two).

Where can I find a new Mariah ignition? Or can I? (I have a Z key)
What could I use as a replacement?

Temporarily, I have a few wires hanging from the dash.. a little hot wire each time we go boating, using the safety switch on the Throttle as a kill switch :wink_thumbup:

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

-Regan

If you cant find an original.Bring what you have(broken tumbler/ING) to a auto zone or pep boys. They can prob match something up that will work.

Happy hunting hope all goes well.

I've thought of that for the time being, I just really hope I can find an original somewhere.

My understanding of Mariah's time period is a little fuzzy, didn't it get sold to sea fox?
Does sea fox potentially use the same wiring harness in some of the boats? It'd be fun to have a Sea Fox branded key, to raise questions ;)

Thanks for the idea; I'm actually headed out to see if my local marine dealer can match the harness to another marine key.

Nope, Sea Fox completely redid the interiors, and didn't use any of the original Mariah parts, including the ignitions and wiring harnesses. They don't use a special designer key like the old ones.

There was a member on here who had original keys and ignition switches, but he's not answering any emails, PM, or posts here. Not sure what happened.

I had the exact same thing happen with my key earlier this year, and I ended up buying a temporary replacement from "Sea Dog" until I can figure out the OEM ignition situation. It was about $20 from a local marina, and took all of about 5 minutes to install it.

Thanks ShabahZ250. Your comment about Sea Dog pointed me toward a stainless fuel pop cap. Been looking to replace mine as the black plastic is getting old. I have googled to death to find the pop up type. I need to measure and look closer but Thanks!

Re: Broken Ignitition Switch

I had a broken Y key and bought couple keys from him about two weeks ago. He did ship them to me. When I received the keys, they didn't work as the switch must have been replaced. I emailed him to see if he had a Y switch I could buy now and have not heard back. Mikey has the right person.

I hope to hear so I can use my new keys. If not, I have some bling now.

Last thing i heard was that he only had "W" ignition & key sets so you may have to change both & buy a spare key. He may be off work for some reason but it might be worth a call to his workplace # since that's the one he gave for contact purposes.
