Help 454 Running bad???
 

Hello.
My 95 barchetta 272 z is running bad.
I first thought I had water in the fuel, I've since run a few tank of fuel through, and it still has some problems. If you run it on the garden hose and dead rev it, it just about stahlls, it sputters , misses, then revs up? In the water, it wont idle, keeps getting lower and then stahls out. it will run on top end , however it has lost a few RPM's & MPH.
It's a 454 with cross ram fuel injection.
Where do you start?

I would start by getting a new set of spark plugs, or checking to see what the condition of your spark plugs are.

After changing the plugs in my 454 it made a world of difference, I had a sputtering take off as well but not bad enough to almost stall it.

I would also try spark plugs and wires- Sometimes to check you wires you can run the engine at night turn off all lights and look for sparks jumping from the wires especialy when you start to rev the engine. if you see any then your wires are bad. also check your distributor cap for water on the inside or carbon tracking from one post to another. hope this helps.
