1997 Shabah bowrider
I'm going to look at what is advertised as a 1997 Shabah 212 today. What should I specifically look for beyond the usual deck check, etc? Thanks, Ed 212

Re: 1997 Shabah bowrider
Hi Ed, hopefully the boat is in nice shape.
I would ask to be shown what maintenance has been performed on the motor and outdrive, i.e. regular oil/filter changes, impeller replacement, etc., routine maintenance as well as proper winterization. If the owner has this information you can be pretty sure that the boat has been well looked after. Also, I believe that if there are around 250 hours running time the gimbal bearing and bellows will likely be needing replacement. Ask how old the battery is, if it is older than 5 years it will likely need replacement soon. Check the operation of all the electical switches to make sure they work and there are not any corroded connections. If there is a trailer be sure to look underneath to see if the weld joints are not too badly rusted or have been cleaned up and painted, same as the boat, regular maintenance. Skiater. |

Thanks. Will do. I have an older Wellcraft bowrider Mercruiser I/O so have some experience with these things. I'm going to take a look.
