Replacement Compass / Alternate Idea
This looks like an accurate replacement to my oem compass:
Compass But what I'd like to do instead of replacing it, is put some type of gps in place of it...Does anyone make something that would fit in that gauge spot that's some type of gps?? Or do I have to create something custom? |

Cant say that i've seen anything in the way of a GPS that would fit the 3 3/8" dia hole in your dash. I've seen GPS speedo's that would fit though.

Never seen one either. Maybe if you're willing to do some cutting you can fit in a motorcycle GPS that will handle the elements. Personally, I put a Humminbird unit on mine - I like to fish so a fish finder was key for me. That being said, at least a marine GPS probably gives you better charting capability, most likely Navionics, that shows great details about the water your on, depth, structures, buoy systems, etc.
The do make some small marine GPS units, but you would have some work to do on the dash to squeeze it in... |
Re: Replacement Compass / Alternate Idea
Keep the compass, it's much easier to keep a straight line in the water.
Add a GPS above the dash along with a fish finder. Show-off your electronics. Ever notice how boaters without a compass waste gas by weaving left and right? Then again maybe they don't know how to use one. Just a thought. |
