Battery problem
I have a 1995 182 barchetta. I'm having a intermittent battery problem. It will go weeks with no problem and then overnight the battery is dead. It seems like it may be related to the power trim but I'm not sure might be a coincidence. I have replaced the battery twice, Checked to be sure I have not left something on. What is the best way to check for current draw in the system or isolate which circuit has the problem? Thanks for any help.

Re: Battery problem
Hi MikeG and welcome to the club!
Internment electrical problems can take qiute some time to isolate and correct so patience is the most important tool here... ;) I would like to know why you think the Power Trim System may be the cause of the dead battery and if you don't mind me asking, I'd like to know how familiar you are with troubleshooting circuits (wiring) and using a DVM so I can advise you accordingly as you may have to get deep into the wiring. In the mean time, lets start by checking and cleaning all of your electrical connections (especially the battery posts/terminals and alternator connections) to insure you're not dealing with a corrosion/contact issue. Re: Battery problem
I have some knowledge of electrical circuits. I did start with the simple to make sure I didn't just forget to turn something off and then checked connections, good battery and such. The times it has drained the battery have been after I have started the engine and lowered/raised the out-drive. It may not be related and I have tried to recreate the problem with out success. I'm in the process of measuring current draw with a clamp on meter at the battery while removing fuses to isolate a circuit that might be the problem. It can sit weeks and the battery stays up then I take it to the lake and its dead. Thanks for your help.
