No drain in ski locker
I own a 1999 Z272 and my ski locker does not have a drain in it. It is not carpeted, just white gel coat. I have looked closely and there is absolutly no drain hole at all.
Does anyone know if a drain hole can be drilled in the compartment? More important, where would the water go? Would it make it to the bilge, or just lay in the bottom of the hull between the stringers? It'a a real pain now, have to suck the water out with a shop vac when it accumulates. Any advice? |
Re: No drain in ski locker
Thant's strange, I've never seen a ski locker without a drain. Do you have a cooler right behind it? If you do, you can unscrew the insert and see if there is a drain port in the bulkhead aft of the locker. If you do, then I'm sure you could drill a drain hole. If not, you'll end up with standing water in the hull.

Re: No drain in ski locker
No, no cooler behind it. Just this large compartment in the floor. It's deep too, I really have to reach to wipe out the bottom of it. I just can't imagine the water draining out if I were to drill a hole.

Re: No drain in ski locker
I agree, not a good idea. There is a guy on here who worked at Mariah, I think he was a stringer guy so maybe he'll see this thread and give us a clarification.

Re: No drain in ski locker
That's what I was hoping. I don't want to take a chance without knowing for sure. Anyway, it makes a nice on-board fish tank!
