Question,
In the original post you said to install a 60,000 uF capacitor, but in the pdf file it says 68,000 uF?
Thanks for the photos as well. That helped me out a lot in understanding what you did to add it. When I originally read this back in October I thought you meant you had to put it at the fuel sender unit under the rear carpet.
But since its behind the dash, looks very simple enough to accomplish. Looks like in June I will do this.
  Thanks !

Don't know about the rest of you, but I found out the hard way that you can go a long way with the fuel gauge resting on "E".
And the gauge stays pretty steady once you get to "E".

180 Diablo,
68,000uF is the corrrect and a readily available capacitor value. It doesn't need to be precise. The higher the value the longer the time constant and dampening of the gauge.
Regards,
Randy

Thanks Randy. That is what I suspected was the case, but I noticed the difference and I had to ask. I have no idea what kind of a difference from 60,000 to 68,000 makes.

Hello Guys,
In case anyone is interested, there are today (29th May) a couple of Mariah fuel guages and a very nice speedo for sale on the US Ebay site.
Cheers,
Gary

Randy, just wanted to say thanks, fuel gauge is much more stable after this modification. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Glad it worked for you. It gets more stable as you go from full to empty because the fuel sensor resistance goes up.

I placed a 60,000 uF capacitor between the sender input and ground at the fuel gage and it's now nearly rock solid. It is so much more appealing and the real fuel level so much easier to read.

I have a huge issue with my fuel gage jumping. Here you say to use a 60,000 uF capacitor and on your attachment you say to use a 68,000 uF. I have 99 182 shabah 4.3L....does it matter which I use? This sounds like a great fix.

You can use a 68,000 uf capacitor, that's what I used.
Scroll up to Randy's post from 2/13/08, he answers the same question from 180diablo.
