sliding door stuck
i have a 1996 talari 215. normal int. the black sliding door that closes off the cuddy wont close. i pulled the boat out of the water with it open last fall and towed it home. then i went to shut it and i wont close. feels like its getting stuck on a screw maybe. i havent found out a way to fix it bc i can slide it more the a couple of inches. i cant even get to any of the screws on the bottom. the top has no screws, its all on the bottom moulding. has any one got any ideas for the spring. it feels like im going to break something(the door) if i keep pulling. and we all know how had it is to get parts. ................. thanks.

Re: sliding door stuck
Mine is tough to close but buy pushing on the bottom from the outside in the closing direction, it slides easily. I sprayed silicone in the tracks and it is much better but needs a new application of spray. My door is cracked but you cant see it from the outside only the inside and it is still solid and water tight.

Re: sliding door stuck
my '97 276mcc cabin hatch door only slides aprox 4" and is stuck in the open position. Seams like it is running into a screw that backed out of the top track. Any quick fixes besides removing windshield and drivers console?

Re: sliding door stuck
Jay, that may be a tricky one to fix. Don't go removing the windshield and drivers console, as it may cause unrepairable damage. I'll be at my boat in a few days, I'll take a look at how mine is setup and see if I can try and help you figure out the best method of attack.
In the meantime, you may be able to access the top track by removing the GPS and using the cutout as an access panel. |
