Intermittent Starting Problems
I have a 93 Barchetta with a 4.3LX. It always starts when it is cold. Occasionally when the engine has been running it wont start. I hear the something click in the back. The engine will not turn over. If I jiggle the start switch on then off a few times, it starts right up. The battery is strong. Could this be the starter, solenoid, contacts, or a combination thereof? It has never stranded me, yet......
Any suggestions?????? |
Re: Intermittent Starting Problems
Sounds to me like the starter solenoid (aka: starter relay) may be failing. Could also be the starter, itself. Impossible to say without testing with a meter when the problem is happening.

Re: Intermittent Starting Problems
I would replace the starter. Nothing spoils a weekend like a non running engine in the middle of the lake.:(

Re: Intermittent Starting Problems
Hi Weezer,
After I looked at the schematic you might try to isolate the problem first between the switch and the starter slave solinoid. Good luck |
Re: Intermittent Starting Problems
Yep, it was the solenoid. I got off easy on that one. Thank you all for your help.
