Z302 Custom down tube exhaust

Here are a few pic's of the 4.5" one piece down tubes that I had custom made for my Mariah Z302 out of 316L by a local Stainless Steel Fabricator in Jacksonville, Florida.

I had an issue with having to use an offset pipe due to there only being one location to exit out of the transom and going custom built was my best option. I am using Lightning headers and dry tail pipes up to the inside bulkhead where most transoms would be but with the molded swim platform on my Mariah I had to go another 16-18" before exiting the boat. That's where the problem lies and not only did I have to go back but also up and towards the centerline of the hull. I used 4" drainage pipe as my test pipe and spent many, many hours getting the angles right before glueing the joints so that when I removed it things would stay in place for the fabricator. $1200 later, which I thought was very reasonable I now have best of both worlds by allowing my boat to be very quiet at idle because the pipes are in the water approximately 4-5" and fully out of the water and wide open when the hull gets up on plane.

Whatcha all think?

Very clever design, nice goin' I especially like the dual sound set up. I always get the turn it off look from the "first mate" whenever I come off plane And, 1200 bucks is probably cheaper than a Captins Call setup. Enjoy your new sound!:wink_thumbup:
