Shore Power or Inverter the Problem?

Last week I brought a small vacuum onto the boat to suck up some debris and much to my dismay, the vacuum ran incredibly slow. So slow that it had virtually no suction. It works great at home but on the boat AC it was limp. The voltage indicator on the panel showed shore power at 120 V so is there a power frequency problem since an electric motor I believes needs 60 cycles to run properly? If the A/C on the boat is from the inverter, and it is producing less than 60 cycles, then I can't use anything with an electric motor on board. If A/C, when hook to shore power, is simply a passthrough on the boat then the problem is with the marina. So you Mariah geeks out there, where's the juice?:confused:

Re: Shore Power or Inverter the Problem?

I answered my own question yesterday. The A/C outlets do not work unless the inverter is turned on so it is the frequency culprit. It appears that it does not put out 60 cycle power so if I want to run a shop vac or any other thing with an electric motor I will have to get a 30 amp shore power outlet adapter to plug it in. Bummer:(
