1999 Z202 Shabah - what's it worth?

I looking at purchasing a 1999 Z202 Shabah and matching trailer. It has a Mercury drive But I am unsure of the size at this time. The boat wasn't used much and has 74.4 hrs on the clock and is in good condition (needs a little polish to bring back the luster) The original owner is asking $13.5 cdn.

Any thoughts?

Here's a couple other threads asking about the same question. The 98 and 99 aren't a whole lot different. I think dash panels are about the only real difference.

One

Two

Just because it only has 74 hours on it doesn't mean it's been taken care of. Be sure to get a full inspection and have it checked out thoroughly before committing to purchase it.

The long and short of it... If you have shopped around and is it a good price compared to others you've looked at, then it's a good deal.

Here's a link to the NADA site were you can get the "book value" for the boat. It's not etched in stone ar anything, but you can use their numbers as a basis for negoetiating. Good luck!

Thanks for the helpful replies! I've attached a few pictures of the boat. I plan to take another look at it this weekend. The owner had it completely checked out last year but hasn't been in the water this season. I will negotiate to get another independent survey. Any comments or things I should watch out for would be greatly appreciated.

The sunpad looks pretty beat up. I can't tell from the pictures, but it appears(?) to be off, and I'd want to know why. It should be piano hinged across the back with gas lifts on each side. There's no need to remove it for regular service etc.

The drive is an Alpha 1 and a good look at it would be on the list, as it's obscured in the pic. Check the type and condition of the prop and skeg.

Looks to be a 5.0 or a 5.7L either of which will be plenty of power. I've never seen the water separating filter mounted like that though.

Photos don't show any covers. Type and condition would be nice to know.

The rest of it looks to be in decent shape. Matching Prestige trailer as well. :wink_thumbup:

That's the oil filter. Fuel/water seperator is on the other side.

Really? Looks like fuel lines going into the base. On my 5.7L the oil filter is down near the pump and the water separating filter is on the forward starboard corner. Did merc put a remote install for the oil filter in to later models?

You're right on my 7.4L the fuel/water seperator is forward starboard side, right near the belt driven fuel pump. Mine does have a remote oil filter, port . That's what this one looks like to me, too.

I don't think the boat in question is a "Z" model. It's missing the electronic compass, SS docking lights, transom light, defogger, etc.

I'd also be leery of such low hours... just as much as high hours. Seals, gaskets, hoses, etc. can all deteriorate or rot from not getting used regularly. Have the surveyor check it well and don't forget to check value of a 202 - not the Z202.

Has a wiper, but not a defroster. Both which are standard on the Z. I agree, I think it's a highly optioned non Z version. How much it changes the value, it's hard to tell. You still have most of the options the Z has, but it doesn't have the name. Hmmm.
