Hi boater423 and welcome to the club!

If you're new to boating or you're not familiar with the ins and outs of boats, I recommend having this '94 Z241 Davanti checked out by a qualified mechanic and boat surveyor to insure your getting a good deal.

Mariahs are built top notch, but even a Mariah can become a nightmare real fast if the previous owners didn't take care of her.

Good luck and hope your Davanti checks out clean!

Hi boater423,

Trim tabs were an option and are not always necessary. I have Trim Tabs on our Z240, but I use them only when I have to. Most of the time the outdrive trim works just fine.

If you purchase your Mariah, try it out a couple of times and if you still feel it needs the tabs, they can be added relatively easily.

what about for keeping the boat steady from weight shift from side to side

Our Z240 is pretty well behaved, she sits level (side to side) at rest and at over 2 tons ready to go, she isn't too bothered if there is one or two more people on one side or the other when under way. The interior seating layout helps keep all of the people weight fairly balanced.

I find myself using the tabs more for low speed take off and planing when towing multiple tubes (up to 4 at a time) or skiers/boarders (two at a time) because everyone else in the boat ends up kneeling on the back seats looking over the sunpad to watch them. Just for the record, I normally have from 6-10 people (combination of adults & kids) on board when we go out to play so it can get a bit crowded on-board.

At tow speeds as low as 12mph, tabs really help to keep the front end down and the hull on plane. There are only two of us that don't mind being towed around 30-35mph, tabs not necessary.

OK, there was one time I used the tabs to help with a port list, I had 4 kids and 3 adults on one side and just two of us on the other, It wasn't really noticeable, but since I had the tabs, what the heck, I used them.

As I said before, try your Z241 out first to see if you really need the tabs. If she is handles like our Talari, spend the saved cash on something else for your Davanti .
