No trim, bilge blower, hard to start

I purchased our 1996 Shabah with 4.3LX alpha 1 three weeks ago. Weve thaken her out four times. With very little help from her previous owner, she is hard to start. The last time in the water I hit the starter once she started ran for five seconds then quit I ran the bilge blower for approx three minutes then cranked for another three minutes then had to let it set for 15 before it would start. Then when it started the trim, the blower, and the ac plug in were in op. Help!

Hello TJShabah,

From your description of the problems, unless your familiar with boat mechanics and electronics, I suggest taking your Mariah to several qualified boat mechanics for their opinions and estimates for repair.

If your determined to try and resolve your issues yourself, we will try and help but it may take quite some time.....

Not to insult you but do you know where the throttle needs to be set at start up?
I only ask because I had a friend that never set the choke before he tried starting the engine. He was never told by the seller how to cold start the boat.

I had precisely the same problem, it wasnt until I did a bunch of researching did I find out you had to push the big red button in the middle of my throttle arm to disengage the drive and to rev the motor. I felt like such a goose not knowing, but I just wasn't shown when I bought it. :shakehead:
So much to learn, and so few brain cells left.
