Fuse Confusion
Right after we took possession of our new-to-us Barchetta, I found that neither the bilge pump nor courtesy lights worked. Turned out to be corroded fuses/fuse-holders. So yesterday I got under there and treated the fuse-holders with DeoxIT and ProGold. Fixed 'em right up. :) In the process, I catalogued the fuses. Found out what all of them do except two: The lone 10A fuse on the left, bottom of the fuse block, and the left-most fuse, 15A, on the top row. I pull those and everything still works. There are wires plugged onto their Faston connectors, so I assume they must do something.
The lone fuse, left-bottom, has a rather large blue wire on it, IIRC. Don't recall what colour wire was on the top, left fuse. Also, there's a 35A fuse in an in-line holder on one of the wires hooked to the battery positive. Is that the "master" fuse for everything run from the panel? So I'm off to examine the wiring diagrams, but, in the mean-time, I thought I'd post this to see if anybody has any ideas. Ok, examining the "Mariah Wiring Schematic for Older Models," the order of the switches and the fuses appears to match our boat. But it shows only six fuses. We have seven fuses and positions for 12. It looks like the top, left fuse is for the docking lights we don't have. The "Mariah Mark 8 Wiring Diagrams" confirm that the 35A in-line fuse is the "master" fuse for everything run off the helm. The bottom, left fuse remains a mystery. I've so-far been unable to locate anything indicating that second row of fuses even exists. Thanks, Jim |
Re: Fuse Confusion
Mariahs were wired kind of universally. They were wired for all the "Z" and "international" options even if you didn't have them. The unused wiring is tucked away near where the actual wiring would need to go. I've found wiring for a non existant TV/VCR combo, Swiss Lighting, (international navigation lighting) and a few extra courtesy lights.
So chances are, you're wired for all the options available on your model boat. Can you supply us with a list of what you've got so far? Maybe we can help you narrow down what the unknown fuses are! |
