Is this ladder original?

All I have left for a ladder on my recently acquired Mariah 182 Shabah is the mount. I'm unfamiliar with these undermount ladders and I wondered if someone could confirm if this is an original piece, and if I can possibly get the rest of it? And if not where's the best deal on a replacement?

They look pretty similar to this:

You might call Windline and see if they supplied Mariah.

Hi 1999Mariah,

We had another member with a similar issue on a 198 Shabah with the under platform mounted ladder back in '08. I recommended the same ladder as otisroy posted and it should work for you as well, but you will probably have to make a few new holes but it should work and look factory.

Since these ladders were made in-house by Mariah, any after-market ladder will probably require some modifications. Click here to see thread.

Re: Is this ladder original?

Thanks guys. Yeah wetwilly I had seen that post before making this thread, since it was a different model I wasn't sure if it was the same ladder.

Also mine measures 11.5" end to end width-wise, and most of what I am able to find says 12" I'm wondering if they'll sill fit. I was looking at something like this:

What kind of modification if any do you think I'm looking at?

Hi 1999Mariah, from what Irace82 was saying, it looked like you would need to drill new mounting holes for the new ladder then fill in the old ones. I haven't heard from Irace82 as to whether he installed his ladder or not.

I suggest when you find the ladder you want, make a template of the mounting holes and mark them out where your old ladder was so you can see what the differences are and if you're going to have any clearance issues on the back side with any thing or access problems to the mounting hardware. Don't forget to reuse the backing plates and if you don't have any, get some made to help spread the load. If you decide to do the work yourself, be sure to read the articles I linked to in the other thread about drilling into fiberglass and the "how-to" for filling the holes.

Re: Is this ladder original?

Hi all sorry i just got around to looking at this post. Yes i have the exact same ladder mount as you and from your measurements the same width. I had the same problem most were made in the 12 in range. I ended up getting one that was 12 inches wide. Just make sure to measure the space you have available.

I had to take the old mount off and fill the old holes. I then had to just drill the new holes to fit the new ladder. Just make sure you read that info about drilling and filling from wetwilly. On mine there were six small metal backing plates holding the bolts on. I had to get to more plates because the new ladder came with 8 screw holes. I went from a one step to a 3 step ladder and couldnt be happier.

Hi Irace82, glad everything worked out!

Thanks a million for responding and about the info on the additional backing plates! :wink_thumbup:
