Alternator

I have a 1994 220Z with the 7.3L 454. Can someone please post a pic of where the alternator is. Not mechanically inclined so keep the noob jokes to yourself....thanks.

I hope this photo will help.

It's from a 1995 Z272 with the 454, so it should be the same. The alternator (at least according to my eyes) looks to be on the lower right side. (by the MOC logo). The one above it is the power steering pump.

Also I just wanted to correct you, the displacement is 7.4L, not 7.3L (unless you've got a Ford Powerstroke Diesel in yours!) :)

No worries about being a noob, we've all been there, and I think that's why our board is the best, because nobody really harasses each other like those other ones...

Hi jasfiveo,

ShabahZ250's right, no worries here! So you go right on asking your questions, that's what we're here for!

Lastly, a little advice concerning our Stern Drives, Remember to use only Marine rated parts and not Car parts on the motor for safety reasons. Even though Marine Parts are more expensive, they're explosion proof rated and more corrosion resistant than regular car parts.

Good luck,
WetWilly

Re: Alternator

Thanks for the picture and help. I am not replacing it but I am running a PAC relay to it for a second battery for my radio. Charges the battery when moving and isolates it from the starter battery strictly for the radio. Kind of like the two battery system from Deep Blue Sea except it cost me 39 bucks...much cheaper. I will post of picture of it when I am done (along with the new stereo system). Thanks again.
