What would you pay??
My father is looking at a '95 Z202 Shabah. It is equipped with all the original covers, tandem axle trailer, Captian's Call exhaust, and of course all the other Z features. It has back-to-back seating arrangement which he isn't too cranked about but the kicker is it only has 32 hours on it and in great condition. The guy would probably go down to $10,500 but of course high book is around $8,500. I would just like to hear what you guys think. Thanks in advance. Kitto

Re: What would you pay??
I'm sure he's looking for some value out of the low hours (which is VERY low indeed!!). However, that could cause issues itself. There could be a lot of dry-rotting, cracking, leaking of all hoses, gaskets, seals, etc. from not being used and lubricated consistantly.
My own opinion would be to give verly little "extra" for the low hours and point out all the problems that may exist. Use it to YOUR advantage and not the seller's. New gimbal bearing, U joints, impeller, bellows, hoses, gaskets, etc. may cost a pretty penny! I'd ask for all service records (if they exist) and shoot for the NADA number around $8500. Depending on previous maintenance, I guess my love for these boats could sway me higher though :). |
Re: What would you pay??
They do have the service records as it has been serviced by the same shop since
'96. It has been fogged and winterized and maintained all by the same boat/RV place. Of course that doesn't take into affect other parts that could have deteriorated over the years without use. Thanks for the info, I'll pass it along. :wink_thumbup: |
Re: What would you pay??
I bought mine for $6500....it looked ok, and engine was reconditioned so I had no idea as to the hours.
However, I have learned my lesson and its not the engine....its all the other mech items that you need to look for. Since then I have changed, Gimbel bearing, Diodes, Water pump, gas pump, belts, radio (by choice) throttle assembley and cables. Its stuff that was all overdue but of course it all adds up. However, based on what you say $10K sounds about right...in Florida. |
Re: What would you pay??
Dont forget to add the value of the trailer to the price it is worth. trailers are worth up to 1500+ for that year.

Re: What would you pay??
From my experience you can get your askign price if you throw the trailer in for free....same with the GPS system. Its a good way to get some leverage.:wink_thumbup:
