How to decipher wiring diagrams?
I'm trying to figure out how to read the wiring diagrams.
When it says "Bilge Pump(Brn+Brn/Wht+GND)" that should mean three wires right? A brown, a brown with white stripe, and a ground? Then what does "Blower(Yllw-14+GND)" mean? Does the 14 represent gauge or a color code (yellow 14)? Last, are there wiring diagrams for the motor itself out there? I'm trying to figure out what all the wire color codes at the starter are. |
Re: How to decipher wiring diagrams?
I believe you're right on the first one. If I still had my boat at the house, I'd check for you. I'll check next time I'm down at the marina.
The second one, is yellow colored 14 gauge wire and a ground. I believe they labeled wires that were a different gauge than the standard wires they normally used (as a way to tell them apart). There are mercruiser wiring diagrams, in the service manuals, which you should have access to. It might take a little bit of searching, but I believe it's in the electrical section. Or it could be in the ignition section, I can't remember which. :) |
