Buzzer location?

Through more research I have found that Mercruiser has a buzzer alarms that should sound for certain malfunctioning conditions. I was not aware of this as mine obviously doesn't work. Can anyone out there tell me where this buzzer is physically located so that I can troubleshoot it? Thanks.

Not sure on yours, but on mine it's tied into the wiring in behind the panel where the stereo is.

It's located behind the dash. You can't miss it. I had to replace mine about two years ago. There's a company out of Columbus OH that makes the buzzers for Mercruiser. They're called Floyd Bell. The buzzer I used is from the M80 series. You can order it from them for about $10, or get the Mercruiser one for about $30.

I've attached a photo from the mercruiser parts diagrams for the 5.0L. It's labeled as number 12. This should help you identify it.

What I did was disconnect the wires for the buzzer, then connect to a 12v source, like the battery. If it squeals really loud, then it works, and it's time to start checking all your sensors. If not, then it needs to be replaced. I later found out the previous owner had disconnected it due to the fact it was constantly going off... nice huh?

On my 280 MCC it is located behind the shift and throttle panel.

Mine was constanly going of also, so I unhooked it until I could look for the problem. Never had any trouble with it until the repair shop put in a new starter for me. Well they must of un-hooked the water temp sensor next to the sarter and did'nt plug it back in.
Have not tried it yet in the water but I hope that is the problem:confused:
