1998 shabah z202 whats it worth? HELP
:shakehead::shakehead:I have found a boat I am interested in 1998 shabah z202 opal black with buckskin interior 350 MAG 275 hours. Every option mariah offers. The bench seat needs to be replaced and there are some deep cuts and crackin on the rear that would def have to be sanded bondo and painted and an all around really good clean up! Whats this boat worth in the condition? Over all condition 6.5 out of 10. He was askin 16000 when we started I have him down to 14000 but I still don't think its worth that in the shape its in. Please help. Is it worth it? Thanks
Also comes with matching trailor |

No way! NADA lists the boat at $9910 in "average" condition (only option I included was the upgraded engine, which would make that boat fly!!). You could include $1500 for the trailer, but also deduct $2000+ for the condition.
That's pretty low hours for the year. But I'd also question many other items considering it's 11 years old, and being in that condition. Did the previous owner really care for it? It could have many other underlying issues (like rotten floors, engine maintenance, etc.) I think I'd run from that one. He probably has a loan and needs at least that amount. I couldn't see him honestly thinking it's worth $16k. |

I didn't even fork out that many Canuck bucks for mine when it was 11yrs old. It was (and still is... :D ) in excellent condition. |
Re: 1998 shabah z202 whats it worth? HELP
I just purchased a 2001 with 49 hours (yes, that is correct). Owned by a female lady who obviously only used it a few times each year, have records for annual maintenance, garage kept. I paid $13,500.
So that dude is asking seriously far too much. I'm thinking $7000-8000 at most for me to even consider it & that's probably too much. One question, how do you tell if your motor is the Magnum 5.0L option? It is labeled on the air intake? If not, how do you determine it? |
Re: 1998 shabah z202 whats it worth? HELP
Even 14k is way too much in my opinion. I bought my '98 z202 last fall for $7k. It was darn near mint. I would rate the condition in and out to be about 9.5 out of 10. I found a quarter size chip in the gel coat on the back of the boat and a scratch under the bottom about 2" long, by 1/4" wide. Couple interior light bulbs were burned out work and the hatch lifts just a bit crooked.
Came with a pretty much unused trailer, convertible top, mooring cover, gps, ship-to-shore, couple props, life jackets, anchors (2), bumpers, line... everything needed to go boating the minute I bought it... even had a full tank of fuel. Here are some Pictures. Granted, I know I got a pretty good deal on mine, but no way, I wouldn't even consider 14k for the boat, especially in 6 out of 10 condition. Keep looking, there will be better deals. |

That model is a "Limited Edition" model, however that price is damn near outrageous in the condition it's in. Consider the cost of replacing the interior with OEM materials and the cracks in the gelcoat (especially with repairing black gelcoat) at probably around $1500-$2000. I wouldn't pay any more than $9500 for that boat. He can't be expecting people to pay his asking price, especially with the state the economy is in now.

Agreed, seriously too much money. I've seen these boats fairly frequently so keep looking. There is another here in Texas with 79 hours, mint, even comes with a 5-month marina lease for asking price of $15K. It is a 2001. |
Re: 1998 shabah z202 whats it worth? HELP
I got lucky. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and had cash to spend.
I responded to a craigslist ad that just said "Mariah boat" and had very few details about what model or anything about it. Turns out, it was a guy looking to dump it because he wanted to sign papers to buy a new 25' or 26' crownline and didn't want to get stuck with the Mariah. I looked at it that night and test drove & bought it the next day :wink_thumbup: Just like "no crying in baseball". There's no buyers remorse around here. There's always someone out there who looks like they got a better deal than your own. If you're happy with the boat you bought for the price you got it for, then you got a great deal  |

Hey i was wondering if 15gs cdn is too expensive for a 98 Mariah Shabah with about 200hrs on it. The boat is in very good condition. No trailer though

^ Seems a little high for a boat without a trailer. Is it a 202? Z model? Which powerplant?
