Wake of my boat.

I'm running a Stilletto prop on my Talari 180. I notice that right behind the boat, I get some side spray to port when running on plane. It's like there's something besides the lower unit deflecting water.

Has anyone else noticed this? Wonder if it's my prop? It's done this since it was new.

Exactly how much spray? Is it noticable while seated in the driver's seat?

Do you have a depth transducer or the Mariah trip odometer wheel on that side of the transom?

I'll save Mikey the trouble of typing - Is your ladder up??:rolling_laugh:

Re: Wake of my boat.

I'm very familiar with spray caused by my boarding ladder. (Darn kids, can't turn off a light switch, can't raise the ladder....)

It's noticeable from the driver's seat and it's coming from the drive. It doesn't do it all of the time. It looks like a shower of water shooting from the outdrive at the prop.

It makes you think that there's a stick or piece of debris stuck between the boat and drive, but there's nothing there.

Are you trimmed all the way down when you get that spray?

On my uncles boat with the drive all the way down, he will get a lot of spray both to port and starboard coming off the lower unit. Trim it up a touch and the spray goes away. Boat also goes a couple mph or so faster. I'm not sure if it's the trim angle or lack of spray that increases the speed, but I suspect the trim angle.

Are you dragging one of the kids? ;)

What else can i think of.... hmmm..... what about a transducer or possibly the Smart tabs? but since you feel its coming from the drive, what about the trim thingy underneath the cavitation plate behind the prop? The only other thing i can think of is related to your water impeller and the outlet port for it being blocked so the water is forcing its way out somewhere else.

It did it before I installed the Smart Tabs. There's no tab as I have power steering. The transducer is in the bilge.

It is less likely to happen fully trimmed down. It's like the prop is throwing spray.

Perhaps you can somehow snap a photo [from another boat perhaps?] and post it here?

Do you have the PVS (Performance Vents System) plugs in the prop?
Dont know if it will cause your problem, but worth looking at.
