Pulled the trigger!! Bought my first Mariah!! Need a few pointers.

Just picked up a '98 Z211 Talari, 224 hrs total, less than 30 hours on brand new carb'd but built 295HP 5.7, silent choice exhaust, etc...

After swapping the PO's aluminum 4 blade 16 pitch with a 21P SS I was happy to hit 50 (by the speedo) with a little coaxing. When the PO did the rebuild he reused the 2barrel carb :shakehead: so I'm planning to add a dual plane high rise manifold with a 750cfm Rochester to see if I can get into the mid 50's. My only real complaint is that is feels noticeably less stable than my 21' Chapparal with a 7.4, but I guess the less weight and lack of sponsons would explain that. So my questions are:

Do trim tabs on these guys help out much with stability? Its that kind of off axis corner to corner shake I'd like to smooth out (keep the admiral happy). The carving feels great and seems to handle 'dead on' chop like a Cadillac, but when you're hitting the chop at an angle it just feels a little rocky.

What king of top end are you guys seeing with similar 5.7 setups? Am I smoking something by hoping to get to 55 - 57 with 330ish HP?

Have any of you had luck in rebuilding the anchor lights? Mine was disconnected so I'm assuming its bad. That or the switch went bad and they didn't feel like messing with it.

Last and most important, the PO decided that the original decals were "Too busy for his taste"..... *SIGH* so he took them off as well as the shields. I just sent an email off to the supplier mentioned in the FAQ, but I know its going to be slim to none to get the originals. Are there ANY after market designs out there you have stumbled across that would compliment the Mariah classiness?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm just stoked to get this thing dialed in this winter and want to start collecting things.

Thanks!
Shane

Check out this thread as far as your stickers are concerned mate. Mmiller19 might be able to help you out a bit.

Congrats on the "new" boat!!! Do a search here on "Smart Tabs". They're like trim tabs, and will take care of your chine walk. They should also help with smoothing the ride. I have them, and LOVE them!!!

My Z212 Shabah is the same size, maybe a little lighter, with a 300 HP 350 Mag and I can manage 57-58 MPH. So your goals don't seem out of line.

Welcome aboard!
