Coast Gaurd Passenger plate

My boat does not seem to have the plate telling me how many people can be on my Z272 94. There is usually a plate that gives the weight and people rating for the boat. Have I outgrown that with the 27 footer? Thanks,,Jas

I believe your boat should still have one on it. However, I think since your boat is above 26ft it's considered a documented vessel. There might be different regulations on those? Maybe some of our larger boat owners can chime in?

For boats over 20' you do not have to display capacity, however you should have some type of certification plate on the boat, usually near the drive controls. My 30' has some type of certification plate in that area. The coast guard website spells it all out for you.

Here in IL, were your boat was built, any boat 26' or less must have a capacity plate. Those above 26' do not require it. I was pulled over last week and the water officer said I should have one, I said I didn't think it was required on a 27' boat so he got out his book and looked it up. I was right "for once". ;) I do have a yacht certification plate near the throttle.
