how to open the double seat

Hi Guys,
I have a Mariah 95 talari.
I'd like to know if
a) the double seat (next to the main chair) supose to open or have other position than normal.
b) how to disasemble it. It has some bolts missing inside.
Any info will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Alex

Hi Alex

Since you are a silver contributor, you have access to the Mariah Manuals. Have a look under the header 'Original Mariah Manuals & Supplements' and click on the manual for 1994. (the different years are nearly all the same). The instructions for the 'back to back' seats are on page 136 and 137 of the manual. Once opened you can reach the 2 or 3 screws that are drilled thru the frame and into the floor. Undo them & you can lift the seat out to fix whatever is wrong underneath.
Be forewarned though, age makes them stiff & difficult to operate sometimes. While you have it open, its a good idea to lubricate the entire mechanism.

Same goes for both of my back to back seats (and the captain) in my Diablo, loose screws. I would love to have the time in the winter (in a heated garage of course) to do some work on the seats in my boat. Unless a trailer lands on my doorstep, that won't be happening.

At least I have found the bolts and washers (and grease) still located somewhere under the seats and have been able to thread them back to where they belong.

From what I remember under my seats, there were two main large bolts right in the middle on a wooden cross brace under the seats. I could be mistaken however, but I do know they were visible enough from lifting the front seat lower cushion and looking towards the stern.

Let us know if you attempt it and see about making a writeup.
