Z302 HIN Where might it be?
I own a 2000 Z302. I have loved the boat and made some rather extensive modifications to fit our patiucular boating style. 15 years ago, one of the modifications was to extend the back deck about 18 inches. The shop that did the extension did a marvelous job reworking the existing and deckand working the extension in fiberglass. One problem, apparently in doing the modification, they covered up the HIN on the starboard rearof the boat. I know what the HIN is as it is on my regristration. HERE IS THE PROBLEM. I am trying to move the regristration to aother state. In order to do that I need a HIN inspection by somweone from DMV or a Law enforcement officer in the recieving State. I understand that many manufacturers placed the HIN on the Starboard rear of the boat and another somewhere inside the boat. So having said all that ... does anyone have any idea where the HIN on the inside of a Z302 might have been plaved?

Re: Z302 HIN Where might it be?
I have never heard of a DMV having to do that. I purchased my Mariah out of state and just needed the title to register it. I find it hard to believe a DMV would need to inspect a 25 year old boat for anything like that. I also have not found any other place on my boat where the HIN would be. I would look into this further because in my experience this does not seem legit to do a registration transfer. People buy things out of state all the time without having to do this…

Re: Z302 HIN Where might it be?
When I bought the boat boat we had a home in Las Vegas and boated on Lake Mead so the I have registration and title issued by the State of Nevada . A few years ago we moved to Utah and now IO do most of my boating at Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge. Alkthough I have been able to keep getting tags from Nevada, I need to transfer the registration to Utah. Because it's boat that is coming in from out of State ( they do it on all other vechicle also) DMV insists on a HIN (for Boats) or VIN (on other vehicles) inspection by Law enforcemnet of DMV personel. I think they do that to make sure the vehicle is not stolen. I actually had to have a DMV check when I first brought the Boat to Nevada from Florida.
But anyway thanks for your reply. Hope somebody knows where the inside HIN might be. |
Re: Z302 HIN Where might it be?
I did a search on the forum for secondary HIN locations and nobody mentiones where this might be. Only that is is required and ususally found etched in the hull hidden by a price of hardware. My guess is most likely around the outboard connections but that makes it really difficult to find.
If you haven't already, post thsi question on the Mariah Owner Club facebok page where some of the older hands will see it and hopefuully reply. There are still some owners from the factory days who are enjoying their Mariah's. |
Re: Z302 HIN Where might it be?
I will nose around on my 99 302 and see what I can find.
I'm looking for a source on locating a bimini top. Also, the lowrance global 200 is shot. Looking for some kind of replacement if anyone has any thoughts or ideas. Sam |
