outboard weight

Hi to all, been thinking of repowering my Mariah 180 Diablo and the weight of the new four stoke engines has been scaring me. At the moment it wears a 150hp two stroke at 180kg. The new 150-175hp are at 210-230 kgs. Does anyone know if the extra 50kg would be an issue.

What year is your boat? we can try checking the manufacturer spec sheets for limits.

Not sure this clip from the sales brochure helps, especially since it says max horsepower is 140 and you are at 150. It also doesn't list weight limits.

Hi all, just an update, I went and repowered to a 150 HP four stroke. Overall fell isn’t the same as the 150 hp two stroke. Although the engine performs well as it planes at 9 knots and cruises at 16 knots with a consumption of 0.4 ltrs (as I’m still breaking in the engine) it doesn’t seem to fell the same way as it did with the old two stroke .

Thanks for the update. I imagine the new 4 stroke is quite different than the old 2 stroke, plus no more stinky blue smoke. I bet you will be much happier and more confident with the new engine next summer.
