Issues with our 21.5 Talari cuddy

Sorry,

I have been busy trying to work out the bugs on our 21.5 Talari cuddy.
I have been trying to figure out what happen to our docking lights. They were working fine and then just turned off and wouldn't come back on. The nav lights did the same thing. I tried to check all the fuses on the panel and they all look fine . Nothing is labeled on the fuse block so it is making it really hard to track down everything.

I have another issue. When the outdrive is up a lot of water starts coming in the engine compartment. If the unit is down, the water slows down tremendously. Needless to say I have to make sure hte bilge is on a lot. I am already having to put in a new builge because of the previous owner wired it to run all the time when the switch is on because the float is messed up on the bilge. When that much water comes in does it mean that the bellows need to be changed or what. I am new at this and have a lot to learn.

Thanks,
Dale

BTT for responses. I found Dale's post burried in the Member Map thread. I moved it so that he can get some responses to solve his problems.

Dale,

I'm willing to bet that your experiencing a corroded connection some where on the circuit for both your nav lights and docking lights. This seems to be a common cause of electrical gremins on the older boats. I'd suggest you go through and check all your connections for corrosion or other failure, especially all of your grounds.

As for your leak, there is definetely a failed seal in your outdrive that needs to be replaced FAST. Can anyone help Dale to determine exactly what part he needs to keep is boat afloat?

Hi dale,

I would strongly recommend you take your Mariah to a shop that speciallizes in your outdrive... if the bellow is the culprit and with the amount of water you say is coming in , your gimbal bearing and u-joints are probably going to need replacement as well as the bellow. So unless you have the tools and are comfortable with taking your outdrive off, take it to a shop for a through going over to insure the water hasn't created other issues with your outdrive, motor or electrical systems.

Good luck,
WetWilly
