building new motor

I bought new to me this summer 1997 z275 shabah every option.502 magnum, Some previous owner froze the block, Some unprofessional mechanic epoxied the inside of the block. Anyway blew up on me,total loss. Having a new motor built all new parts. ends up even with new block it is cheaper to build a 540 than stock motor . most likely going to do this and have arizona speed & marine re-tune the ecu. not going for insane horsepower just something that runs good. probably about 500 hp but higher comp will require 91 octane. just throwing this out for your comments, thoughts Anyone else done this ?

Sorry to hear about your engine! :( Did you buy the boat from a dealer or privately? In either case, Id have a few words with the previous owner...

Perhaps they would consider helping out with the repair costs... Under the circumstances, its the least they should do. No honest dealer or boat owner would repair an engine block like that, and NOT tell a potential buyer about it... :shakehead:

Anyway, the best of luck, and I hope you are back out on the water soon! Let us know how you make out.

Hmm, not sure if this would be the information you are looking for,.. but I know as a replacement motor, the user " Moondance100 " on here has put a 502 big block into his Mariah. Maybe he might be able to help out you with some information regarding your situation..?

Let us know how it goes. Once you get the new powerplant in there, fire off some photos here.

:wink_thumbup:
