95 Davanti out drive

I’m in a pickle.
I bought the Davanti (95) last year. This summer I hit some rocks, bent the prop, output shaft etc.
Insurance is going to cover it by letting me purchase a new out drive (Sterndrive, top and bottom) to replace the current one. Now the search begins.

My quandary is the following: there are serial numbers that I can NOT find anywhere on the current out drive. I know I have a alpha 1 Gen 2. The question is “what gear ratio” do I need to purchase. I have no way of knowing what it is……any ideas how I identify it? I have the VIN but have had zero luck finding any info about it.

Second one is Mercruiser out drive or SE? Is one (I think I’d prefer the Mercruiser) better over the other?

The entire unit “looks” fairly easy to replace…..I’ve built car engines from the ground up, so very mechanically inclined. Am I missing something or is it as easy as it seems?

Much appreciate any info, insight or a quick slap in the side of the head. Thanks.

Same answer i gave you on the Facebook forum. Look for the stamped letter as per the narrative in the attached chart.

And it is as easy as it looks. Make sure you check your gimble bearing and bellows while you have the drive off.
